I know the web-mirecourt.com/marqu
http://www.luthiers iques_.htm web ... but there is no reference to this label BRETON. That's why my question.
The label of this violin does not resemble the known BRETON. It may be an imitation of BRETON. When I have the violin in my hands I can give you more details of his state and if it displays any more marks.

First off those are stamps not label and they look ok to me, the craftmanship seems rather poor for "real breton" I'm not even sure that the front has perfling.
The varnish has been altered. If I was to guess I would say early production of industrial "Breton"

Thank you very much. The stamp is what strikes me most attention. The varnish has definitely been altered and I also think that perhaps the top cover has been changed and not original.
When I get my violin I discuss with my Luthier and if there is something interesting I'll let you know. Thanks for your advice. If anyone knows anything more let me know.

I received the violin today.
The top cover has inside this signal.
Any idea what could it mean?
Today I bring to my luthier to see it in detail.

I must admit I've never seen this before.
do you confirm that the top comes from an other fiddle ?

I've been with the Luthier and can ensure that the cover is not of that violin. It is larger that has tried to adjust. The work is not as good as the rest, but rather mediocre. It has not been glued in that violin never. It seems that have double wood near the f-holes.
However the background is handmade and is well made. Good wood and good job. A slow, steady hand.
I want to know everything about that violin. I have a lot of pictures if anyone want it and can help me.
Thank you.

First of all, it is quite a fun game this investigation and I would like to be in your shoes
Second, can you tell us the background of your transaction ? Price ? To play with ? To expose it ? It seems nice but will it give good sound and for what price ?
Waiting for further informations

I bought it at an auction. I paid € 200. I just like it. I am a violinist and whether it is worth it to have it restored to play it or like second instrument.

Does it seem to be in good shape to give it strings to test its sound or will you have to wait ? Expecting for its sound !
